It's been a while since my last blog but I'm baaaack and will be blogging on all things makeup a lot more from now on ! Promise !
This week is one of my favourites ;) I Love teaching students new and exciting techniques. I have 4 lovely ladies with me all week learning how to make it in the industry as a successful bridal makeup artist . Most freelance artists that I know in the industry will still take on weddings most weekends around other film , television and fashion work.It is such a stable good source of income for an artist . Each year I will take on between 40-50 weddings and will be booked out most Fridays and Saturdays of the year depending on my availability. It is always a great morning to share with a bride and becomes very rewarding making a bride feel at her most beautiful ;)
Along with teaching a variety of techniques to my students including looks for every type of bride , their bridesmaids , flowergirls and mothers of the bride , I share my knowledge on how to market themselves in a very competitive industry.
Airbrushing is a must for any bride so I will also be teaching an advanced airbrushing workshop alongside all the bridal techniques to show how to achieve a flawless photographic finish to every makeup.
Stay tuned for images to come ......
I LOVE MAKEUP !

My 9 to 5 .......
A sneaky look at what I do during the week as a makeup artist.
Alongside all of my freelance makeup work , a few of you may know that I am also a Makeup Educator to around 50 students a year. I teach students of every age from 15 right through to 60. They come to me to learn tips and techniques in every area of makeup artistry from the basics ( day , evening , mature , bridal , formal , smoky eyes , false lashes ) to more photographic techniques ( colour photographic , black and white , catwalk , high fashion , avant guard ) . I absolutely love teaching especially when a student comes to me knowing NOTHING about makeup and then leaving 3 months later full of motivation and new skills to go out and try to make it in a very competitive industry.
Here are a few snaps of some of the demonstrations that I do on my lovely students to inspire them.

Must Have Product of the Month - October 2011
MAC FIX+ - Prep and Finish.
This is a MUST HAVE product not just for all Makeup Artists but for girls and guys doing their day to day makeup.
An aqua-spritz of vitamins and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!
This product smells amazing and makes your skin feel so revitalized and fresh - Perfect for those sticky humid Australian summer days. I like to use it on clients before and after makeup application.
A lot of my clients have very dry dehydrated skins , when makeup is applied it can tend to go patchy and start to separate looking cakey and unnatural , this will help to moisturise and refresh before application , making your base layer of foundation go on a lot smoother ( let it settle into skin before using it with your favourite primer for extra moisture ).
Add a squirt at the end of makeup application . FIX+ will set your makeup and take away any dry, patchy, dull looking areas . It will add a dewy luminous glow to the skin .
This is a product I use backstage on shows and on photo-shoots all the time - use it on models in between touch ups as it helps to keep their makeup looking freshly applied.
An all round Awesome Product that I just LOVE LOVE LOVE and it does not have an expensive price tag !
Each month I will be reviewing and writing about another MUST HAVE product for everybodys makeup bag so keep a look out :)

A little gem!
Everyone should go out and purchase this little gem of a product . Just discovered the other day on my weekly shop around the chemist . Although I do not normally buy 'chemist brands' this little beauty is worth the $15! Natio Pure Mineral Eye Brightener - For girls that are concerned about dark circles under their eyes ( which we all are!) this eye brightener can be worn on its own or I personally wear it everyday underneath my normal under eye concealer . It has a gorgeous luminosity and slight shimmer to it so it reflects light away from unwanted dark areas and creates a beautiful dewiness and glow.
